USEFP Addresses Rumours of Fulbright Termination

The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has released an official statement to provide clarification and reaffirm its continued commitment to educational cooperation between the United States and Pakistan in response to recent media reports and public concern regarding the discontinuation of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) in Pakistan.
USEFP states that the United States is still dedicated to enhancing people-to-people relations with Pakistan through ongoing academic exchanges, even while the Global UGRAD Program undergoes modifications.
According to the organisation, there are presently about 11,000 Pakistani students studying in the United States, and more are being accepted as they look for academic possibilities at American universities.
In response to enquiries on the whereabouts of current Global UGRAD participants, USEFP affirmed that all 54 Pakistani students enrolled in the program who are presently enrolled in U.S. courses will finish their academic exchanges on time. According to the statement, “they have received and will continue to receive their stipends and all benefits associated with the program.”
Additionally, the foundation denied reports that the esteemed Fulbright Program was ending, stating that it is still fully operating and that all Fulbright recipients are getting their funding as scheduled. USEFP said, “There is no truth to claims that the Fulbright Program has been discontinued or that students will be left stranded in the United States.”In order to better align its exchange programs with current administration objectives, the U.S. Department of State is presently undertaking a comprehensive worldwide assessment. As further information on the future of these activities becomes available, USEFP promised to update the public.Despite the recent changes, Pakistani professionals and students can still take advantage of a number of government-funded exchange programs in the United States, such as the Fulbright Program.
