Govt Set to Increase Petroleum Levy Instead of Reducing Petrol, Diesel Prices

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a Federal Cabinet meeting that took place in his office on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister told the attendees that the money saved from the drop in the price of petroleum products on the global market would be used to dualize the crucial instead of being transferred to customers via the N-25 highway in Balochistan (Chaman-Quetta-Kalat-Khuzdar-Karachi Road).

The goal of this action is to give Balochistani citizens better travel options. In order to restore the national route to motorway standards, the prime minister gave the order.

The same savings will also be utilized to finish Phase 2 of the Kachhi Canal, which will irrigate hundreds of acres of Balochistani land and boost the province’s and the nation’s overall prosperity.

In a special appearance at the federal cabinet meeting, Balochistani Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti congratulated the Prime Minister for the N-25 rehabilitation project and other development projects for the Baloch people.

An amendment to the Petroleum Products (Petroleum Levy) Ordinance 1961 was accepted by the Federal Cabinet based on the Petroleum Division’s suggestion. It is anticipated that this modification will raise national revenue.
