Pakistan’s Large-Scale Manufacturing Shrinks by 3.5% in February 2025

In February 2025, the LSMI output fell 5.9% from January 2025 and 3.51% from February 2024.
which included the Provincial Bureau of Statistics (BoS), the Ministry of Industries and Production, the Ministry of Commerce, and OCAC.

The LSMI quantum index number (QIM) for February 2025 is projected to be 122.56 based on the large-scale manufacturing industries’ tentative quantum index numbers.

Tobacco (0.25), Textile (0.29) Garments (1.29), Petroleum Products (0.30), Automobiles (0.72), Food (-0.50), Chemicals (-0.43), Cement (-0.37), Iron & Steel Products (-0.55), Electrical Equipment (-0.50), Machinery and Equipment (-0.15), and Non-Metallic Mineral Products (-0.73) are the primary contributors to the overall negative growth of 1.90 percent.

Comparing July-February 2024-25 to July-February 2023-24, the production of tobacco, textiles, clothing, automobiles, and other transport equipment has increased, while that of food, chemicals, non-metallic mineral products, iron and steel furniture, machinery and equipment, electrical equipment, and items have all declined.
