Inter Exams Delayed Due to Administrative Issues

The Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, and General Science exams, which were initially set to begin on April 28, are now anticipated to begin on May 6 or later, while the yearly Intermediate exams for 2025 have been postponed. The Commerce and Arts groups’ second test phase will also be impacted by this delay.

The lack of examination centers, as many are now being utilized for matriculation examinations, was one of the main causes of the delay.

changes made to first-year students’ grades as a result of the use of grace marks.

Exam dates and center arrangements have not been approved since the chairpersons for the education boards in Hyderabad and Karachi have not been appointed.

A senior official from the Department of Universities and Boards stated that Karachi’s matric exams will run until May 2. These exams cannot be utilized for intermediate purposes until the matric examinations are completed, as many intermediate exam centers coincide with matric centers.

The official also noted that administrative decisions, including exam scheduling and the establishment of testing facilities, have been delayed for over a month due to the absence of chairpersons in Hyderabad and Karachi.

The Sindh matriculation and intermediate exams were initially scheduled for March 15 and April 8, respectively, by the Education Department’s Steering Committee.. However, due to complaints from private school associations about students struggling to take exams during Ramadan, the schedule was changed. The committee moved the matric exams to April 8 (after Eid) and the intermediate exams to April 28.

With more postponements, students will now have to take intermediate examinations in the sweltering summer heat once more, which may cause more delays in results, university admissions, and the start of the school year.
