KP Approves Rs. 1 Billion for Free Textbooks and School Bags

A number of decisions concerning public health, education, water supply, tourism, the environment, sanitation, energy, and power were taken by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur presided over the lengthy Cabinet meeting, which was attended by the cabinet members, the Chief Secretary, the Additional Chief Secretaries, the Senior Member Board of Revenue, the Administrative Secretaries, and Advocate General KP, according to a statement released here on Friday.
The Cabinet directed the relevant authorities to create a plan for providing school bags to all school-going children, beginning with out-of-school children who are being rolled over during the current campaign, and approved Rs. 1 billion as a Supplementary Grant for the Scheme Provision of Free Textbooks and School Bags in Merged Districts.
The Cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to providing basic education facilities to all children in the province and emphasised the value of basic education for children. It was decided that, while textbooks will be printed on time, their quality will be further enhanced, attempts will be made to lower their costs, and the Education Department will be able to pay off outstanding debts as soon as possible.
