KP Authorizes Digital Centers and Innovation Hubs to Advance the IT Sector

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the construction of Digital Connect centers at divisional headquarters and a cutting-edge Innovation Hub at the University of Peshawar in an effort to promote technological advancement.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur presided over a high-level meeting held here on Friday where the decisions were finalized. The province’s IT infrastructure and higher education were the main topics of discussion.
The planned Innovation Hub would house 22 private offices, two sizable event spaces, conference rooms, and co-working spaces in the University of Peshawar’s current Incubation Center building.
In addition to giving startups, IT firms, and young entrepreneurs a collaborative environment, this multipurpose facility is anticipated to bring in Rs. 60 million annually for the institution. The hub would provide all required services under one roof to boost innovation and corporate growth, officials emphasized.
At the same time, all divisional headquarters will have Digital Connect centers, which will initially run out of rented buildings, approved in principle by the government.
These facilities, which include computer labs, co-working spaces, and IT parks, are designed to give young people in the province access to contemporary technology and job prospects.
The government’s dedication to digital transformation was underscored by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who said, “We are determined to create a tech-friendly ecosystem and equip our youth with cutting-edge opportunities.” With intentions to spread the Innovation Hub model to other colleges if it proves successful, he instructed authorities to enable the quick implementation of both programs.
Senior officials, including the secretaries of the IT and higher education departments, as well as Shafqat Ayaz, the Special Assistant to CM for IT, attended the meeting.
