KP Teachers Announce Boycott of Classes and Exams

In reaction to reported bureaucratic interference at institutions in Bannu and Peshawar, college teachers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have announced a province-wide boycott of academic activities scheduled for Friday.
In addition to threatening to boycott the forthcoming intermediate exams, which are set to start on May 7, if their complaints were not resolved, they had called for a formal apology from the relevant authorities.
The College Teachers Association President, Professor Abdul Hameed Afridi, said in a statement that all classes at public institutions throughout the province will continue to be postponed on Friday.
He made it clear that college instructors would never put up with disrespect or administrative unfairness.
According to the statement, instructors’ complete cooperation with the administration during the matriculation tests should not be seen as a sign of weakness.
The organization described the recent actions of the deputy commissioners at Government Degree College Domail, Bannu, and Superior Science College, Peshawar, as extremely improper and undesirable, and strongly denounced them.
Professor Afridi pleaded with the Chief Secretary to notice the instances right away and discipline the authorities involved severely.
He threatened to boycott the intermediate exams, which were set to start on May 7, if the problem was not rectified.
