PTA and FIA Collaborate to Seize Patched Phones and IMEI Tampering Software

PTA Zonal Office Faisalabad, in partnership with FIA (CCRC), carried out three successful raids at important mobile phone retail and repair stores in Faisalabad’s commercial district (Kacheri Bazar, Clock Tower) as part of a significant campaign against the unlawful altering, cloning, and sale of mobile phone IMEIs.

One bait phone and a laptop running Chimera software, which is used to tamper with IMEIs, were seized from a repair business, while seventeen patched phones were found in two retail locations. The FIA filed FIRs and arrested five people.

Untraceable communications used in financial fraud, abduction, cybercrime, and other illegal acts are made possible by illegally altered phones, which present significant risks.
The public has been advised by the PTA to be on guard and report any unusual cloning or tampering incidents. Violations will have legal repercussions, and strict regulatory enforcement is still in place.
